April 17th, 2025, marked a momentous occasion for Providence University College and Theological Seminary as the Manitoba Legislature officially carried a resolution honouring the institution’s 100-year legacy.

Devon Clunis: A Story of Hope
It was not simply another Introduction to Business class for students and guests at Providence this past Monday, as former Winnipeg Police Chaplain and Chief Devon Clunis was invited to share reflections of his time on the force, which he recounts in the recently published book One: A Story of Hope in Our Time.

Revelation Scholarship at Providence
Providence boasts a myriad of fantastic courses, each of which providing new knowledge and inspiration for the students enrolled. There is a wonderful problem that exists at Providence in which choosing one’s electives is difficult because there are so many good choices one can make, and one of these options is a course on the book of Revelation.

Providence Hosts the CCAA Men’s Volleyball Nationals
Since it was announced this past fall that Providence would be hosting the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship, the Pilots have been working hard to prepare for the arrival of teams from across the country early next month. All games will be held at the Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre between March 5th to 8th.
Cross-Country Running at Providence
This fall, the Pilots will have a Cross-Country Running team competing in the National Christian College Athletic Association, which will be led by head coach Caleb de Jong. The goal before the team’s official launch in September is to recruit at least five women and five men who will race at the NCCAA National Tournament in Indiana.
Reading the Margins with Dr. Michael Gilmour
On Wednesday, October 9th in the courtyard at Providence, a couple dozen staff, faculty and students gathered for the launch of Dr. Michael Gilmour’s new book Reading the Margins: Encounters with the Bible in Literature. Dr. Gilmour is Distinguished Professor of New Testament and English Literature at Providence University College, where he has worked as part of the faculty since 1998.
Truth & Reconciliation Week
“I want Providence to experience a little bit of what Indigenous communities do together,” said Jolly. About the teepee-raising that took place in 2023, she shared: “There were a whole bunch of us from different nationalities raising these teepees. What a beautiful picture of reconciliation; of working with each other for a common purpose.”
Welcome Week 2024
It’s September, which means that the 2024-2025 academic year has officially begun at our Otterburne campus. Providence is excited for all of its new and returning students, who have already moved into residence and begun classes.
