This fall, the Pilots will have a Cross-Country Running team competing in the National Christian College Athletic Association, which will be led by head coach Caleb de Jong. The goal before the team’s official launch in September is to recruit at least five women and five men who will race at the NCCAA National Tournament in Indiana.

Reading the Margins with Dr. Michael Gilmour
On Wednesday, October 9th in the courtyard at Providence, a couple dozen staff, faculty and students gathered for the launch of Dr. Michael Gilmour’s new book Reading the Margins: Encounters with the Bible in Literature. Dr. Gilmour is Distinguished Professor of New Testament and English Literature at Providence University College, where he has worked as part of the faculty since 1998.
Truth & Reconciliation Week
“I want Providence to experience a little bit of what Indigenous communities do together,” said Jolly. About the teepee-raising that took place in 2023, she shared: “There were a whole bunch of us from different nationalities raising these teepees. What a beautiful picture of reconciliation; of working with each other for a common purpose.”
Welcome Week 2024
It’s September, which means that the 2024-2025 academic year has officially begun at our Otterburne campus. Providence is excited for all of its new and returning students, who have already moved into residence and begun classes.
Graduating Athletes
Providence has the pleasure of boasting championship titles and many successful games played in soccer, basketball, and volleyball, and our school is full of athletes who are winning these games while balancing everything else going on in their lives.
Graduation 2024
On Saturday, April 20th over 100 students gathered together to celebrate their graduation from Providence with family, friends, faculty and staff. This included graduates from the University College – i.e. Otterburne campus and Prov Downtown – and the Theological Seminary.
Residence Life Director: Teah Goossen
The students at Providence meet and connect with a lot of staff, but they interact with one staff member more than most, especially if they live in residence. The name Teah Goossen is familiar to everyone on campus, as well as several commuting students, and rightfully so. Teah is Providence’s Residence Life Director and, after six years of excelling in her role, she is leaving Providence at the end of April.
Faculty in Residence: Angelle Arinobu
While university life can be hectic and wild, Angelle Arinobu, our current Faculty in Residence, has braved the task of living in the same building as many of our residence students. Through her desire to connect with young people, she has helped to foster an environment where students can come together and chat.
Arts-Based Learning at Providence and Beyond
From drawing and painting, to creative movement and drama, to writing and music, art is a universal language that not only connects people and is central to culture, but is extremely effective for learning. Especially when dealing with pain and distress, artistic expression can be an invaluable tool when it comes to communication.
Environmental Science at Providence
Because of its forested, riverside and agriculturally-adjacent location in Otterburne, the Environmental Science program is uniquely positioned to offer a mix of hand-on field methods and laboratory components.
