Providence is creating new pathways for students to choose from – including its Centre for On-Demand Education (a.k.a. “CODE”). To help meet the need for skilled workers and to serve adults who want to earn credits towards a post-secondary diploma or degree, CODE offers Competency-Based programming that focuses on proficiency rather than time spent in a classroom setting.
The theme of Black History Month across Canada in 2024 is “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build,” and Dr. Olukoju is definitely an example of one whose contributions ought to be marked and celebrated.
Because of its forested, riverside and agriculturally-adjacent location in Otterburne, the Environmental Science program is uniquely positioned to offer a mix of hand-on field methods and laboratory components.
Let us LOVE in the same way that God has loved. And so, we watch and wait for the One who gives us a model of how we should LOVE one another.
It is always a struggle to be vulnerable, but by displaying our needs before a group of people who genuinely care to see the resident students at Providence succeed, the vulnerability suddenly ceases to be a daunting thing and becomes the beautiful method through which the Lord answers prayers.
With Mary – during the uncertainty of the very first Christmas – may our spirits rejoice as well. And so, we watch and wait for the One who gives us an ability to know JOY during difficult times.
There is something unique about the place of teachers in the world. From a very young age, people look to others who have more life experience to impart wisdom and to inspire wonder. This is the case in family settings – where children learn from their parents and caregivers – as well as in scholastic contexts (i.e. elementary through graduate studies). In fact, without faculty, institutions like Providence would simply not exist, since it’s the role and responsibility of professors to facilitate the process of education, through teaching, writing and public scholarship.
As those seeking to follow the footsteps of Christ, we accept PEACE as a gift, but also as a mission. And so, we watch and wait for the One who gives us a way for PEACE to be experienced in this life.
On Thursday, November 16th, Providence hosted its annual Prov Talks event, where faculty and staff presented a variety of “ideas worth pondering.”
It may be dark, but we are not in the darkness alone. And so, we watch and wait for the One who gives us a reason to confidently persevere in HOPE.
