Providence University College and Seminary cannot imply, promise or guarantee that credits earned at Providence will transfer to other institutions, since such determinations are made according to the policies of the receiving institution. If you are considering transferring to another school, it is your responsibility to determine whether that school will accept your academic credits.

If you are considering an academic program that leads to a professional license or certification in a particular jurisdiction, please contact the appropriate licensing agency prior to enrolling. As a student, it is your responsibility to contact the appropriate licensing board to confirm whether a Providence University College or Seminary program will meet the requirements for licensure in that jurisdiction.

FAQs

Will my Providence credits transfer to another university or college?

Yes! Our credits are widely accepted across post-secondary institutions in both Canada and the United States, and among our fellow schools in the Association for Biblical Higher Education and Association of Theological Schools. Know, though, that the decision to accept the transfer of credits isn’t up to us! Every university or college makes the decision themselves whether they will accept Providence’s credits towards their degrees, diplomas or certificates.

What should I do if I want to transfer to another school?
The first thing you should do is find out if the other school will accept Providence credits. In the off-chance that they don’t, let the Registrar’s Office and your professor know and we can do what we can to get those credits recognized (though probably not in time for your purposes). Remember, though, that it is always up to the other school whether or not to accept the credits.
How about provincial certification? I want a career in _____.
It’s important that you always check with whatever regulatory body or association regulates whatever career you’re interested in (especially if your job requires some sort of license or certification). Just like with credits, it is up to the regulatory body to decide whether they will accept Providence’s programs towards their certification.
When should I do all of this work?
Right away! You should look into the eligibility of transfers or the eligibility of Providence’s programs to be recognized towards a professional license or certification as soon as possible. We care about you and want your educational journey to be successful. The earlier you know this information, the earlier you can make the right decisions regarding your education!
What if I want a course I've taken at another university to count for my degree at Providence?
We take transfers of credit into Providence as well! If you’ve taken a course from an accredited college or university and it’s comparable to something that we offer, we will consider giving you credit for that course towards a Providence degree. If you didn’t take the course at an accredited institution, don’t despair! We’ll consider those too.
What do I need in order for you to accept my transfer of credits?
If you’ve received a grade of “C” or better from an accredited post-secondary institution (or “B” or better from an unaccredited institution), the Registrar’s Office will consider your credits for transfer. You need to supply the Registrar’s Office with an official transcript from the school where the course was taken in order to give the Registrar’s Office all of the information it needs to make a proper decision. Unfortunately, not all courses are eligible for transfer.
How many courses I can transfer into Providence?
That depends! It’s easier to say that you must take a minimum of 30 credit hours, or a third of the program requirements (the requirements of whatever major you’ve declared), from Providence.
