Call for Papers

The last quarter of the nineteenth century witnessed the arrival of thousands of Mennonites in Southeastern Manitoba from Europe and Russia. Through their prodigious work ethic, agricultural acumen, and robust sense of communal identity, which at times placed them in conflict with the provincial authorities, these settlers and their ancestors left their mark on the land and the culture of Manitoba. Other pockets of Mennonite settlers have made a similar impact upon other parts of Canada.

The upcoming issue of Didaskalia, “Engaging Anabaptists,” aims to dialogue with, assess, and advance this theological, ecclesial, and cultural heritage. Contributions are invited from Anabaptist scholars across a variety of disciplines (theology, biblical studies, history, sociology, etc.) who have something important to say to or about their tradition.

Submissions are also encouraged from representatives of other ecclesial traditions who are open to engaging Anabaptists in creative, critical, or constructive ways.

Guidelines for potential contributors can be found here. Submissions should be sent to didaskalia@prov.ca by December 5, 2025.
