Scribe and Jordan St. Cyr to headline Providence Welcome Week Kick-Off Concert

Apr 26, 2018 | Institution / General, News

Scribe is returning to Providence for the 2018 Welcome Week Kick-Off Concert, where he’ll be joined by singer-songwriter Jordan St. Cyr.

A Providence TESOL graduate and Covenant Award-nominated hip-hop artist, Scribe opened the 2017 Kick-Off Concert, which also featured Juno Award-winners The Color, and helped set an energetic, positive tone for the fall semester. Previously a member of Winnipeg hip-hop collective KMF, which also included Fresh I.E., Scribe released his latest album, Keys to the City, in July 2017.

St. Cyr, for his part, recently won the Nashville-based Unsigned Only competition for his single “In My Lifetime,” co-produced by Ben Calhoun (Citizen Way) and Micah Kuiper (Hawk Nelson), and was named 2017 Nashville Rising Star Songwriter. His stop at Providence is part of a tour that will also see him perform in North Augusta SC, London ON, Winnipeg MB and Calgary AB.

The Kick-Off concert will take place Sunday, September 2 and will cap off a day that will also include alumni soccer games and a community BBQ. Start-times and ticketing information will be released at a later date.

Welcome Week 2018 will begin with the arrival of all new students on Friday, August 31 and will feature five days of outdoor activities and sports, academic orientation, familiarization events for parents and the Kick-Off Concert.
