OTTERBURNE, MB – On Saturday, March 12th at 2 pm, Providence University College & Theological Seminary will hold a Presidential Inauguration ceremony for Dr. Kenton C. Anderson in the R.W. Affleck Chapel.

Dr. Anderson started at Providence on June 1st, 2021 after serving for 26 years at Northwest Seminary in Langley, BC as professor, dean and president. He has dedicated most of his professional life to Christian higher education and is best known for his pioneering leadership in competency-based theological learning. He is also well-recognized for his work as preacher, homiletician, consultant and author. Our Providence community looks forward to the weekend Inauguration so that we can formally induct him into the role of 15th President.

Distinguished guests and speakers will include:

  • The Honourable Jon Reyes, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills, and Immigration
  • Cheryl Pauls, President, Canadian Mennonite University
  • Johanna (Joan) Franz, Chair, Providence Board of Governors

Provost Nicholas Greco will host the ceremony and the inaugural address will be given by Dr. Leland Eliason whose ministry career has spanned more than six decades with 15 of those years in leadership roles at Bethel Seminary (Minnesota). Eliason continues to have an influential voice in theological education and now serves as a consultant to pastors, leaders, seminaries and churches.

The last Inauguration at Providence was held in September 2013 for Dr. David Johnson who served as President for nine years.

Watch for a post-event story next week.
