Providence campus a hive of summer activity

Sep 5, 2018 | Institution / General, News

Providence welcomed more than 1,300 people to its facilities between April’s graduation exercises and last week’s arrival of new students. Functioning as a summer classroom, a conference centre, a family reunion venue and the site of a silent retreat, the Otterburne, MB campus was a hive of activity during the summer months.

Notably, 83 students participated in the University College and Seminary’s summer course offerings, and 415 attended Pilots Sports Camps. Providence also welcomed health and recreation organizations as well as Christian groups representing Mennonite Brethren, Alliance, Coptic Orthodox and Roman Catholic congregations. In July, the Manitoba Buddhist Viahara and Cultural Association used Providence as the setting for its silent retreat.

Providence offers a spacious dining hall, linked meeting rooms, a gymnasium and comfortable residences for event rental and is Southeastern Manitoba’s premiere conference and retreat destination.
