Providence Basketball runs sports camp for Sioux Lookout highschool

Apr 12, 2019 | Institution / General, News

Alumni Marc-Nicholas (BA 2011, MA 2013) and Lynnette (BA 2010) Martin-Paulichenko recently hosted Providence’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams at Pelican Falls First Nations High School (PFFNHS) in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. The teams provided a weekend basketball sports camp for the high school’s students, allowing the students to further develop skills in the sport and learn more about post-secondary school opportunities available to them.

Martin-Paulichenko, PFFNHS Athletic Director, and Joel Coursey, Providence Women’s Basketball Coach, were encouraged by the weekend’s impact on both the high school and university students who participated. “I think it’s really exciting to see our students coming out and not just participating, but showing their willingness to learn. I think it’s going to make not just our programs better, but our athletes better. It will help them build confidence, self-esteem, and their skill,” Martin-Paulichenko reflected.
