Youth for Christ (YFC) Executive Director and Providence alumnus John Courtney (’86) was this year’s recipient of the Entrepreneurial Leaders Organization’s Entrepreneurial Leaders Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize the track record of a person(s) who can serve as an inspiration to others to pursue Christian entrepreneurial leadership. It was awarded at the ELO Forum and Gala on April 30th, 2019 in Winnipeg.
Completing his 47th year of service to YFC in June of this year, Courtney is said to be a “visionary with a huge heart for God and for the kids in the city of Winnipeg” (Dave Brereton, Chairman of YFC International). Courtney’s passion for the work that he does and his family are both evident.
Courtney received a Master of Arts in 1992 and was later awarded a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2011, both from Providence Seminary. He is a valued member of the Providence alumni family, actively living out Providence’s values and mission in the workplace. Courtney shared, “I am humbled and honored to have received the ELO Entrepreneurial Leaders Award. There are so many pieces that have shaped my life and my leadership. Providence played a significant role in my life during my ongoing education while I served in my earlier years with YFC. I am grateful for the contribution of Providence in my leadership journey.”
