Prov alum giving back to Winnipeg Community through North End Hockey Program

Feb 5, 2018 | Alumni Stories, News

Arvin Arabe played basketball at Providence but is using hockey to make a difference in his Winnipeg community.

Arabe, who attended Providence from 2004-2007, was recently profiled in an article published by the Winnipeg Free Press and Canstar Community News outlet The Times. He is entering his second year as co-ordinator of the North End Hockey Program and coach of the Norquay Knights.

Having concentrated on basketball for much of his life, Arabe hadn’t played hockey in some time when he returned to the ice in his NEHP role.

“I had to relearn how to do everything,” he tells writer Ligia Braidotti. “I had to get on the ice and learn how to coach, how to run drills, be on every roster, just in case anything would’ve happened, to make sure that I was there for practices to run and I had to make sure that I was available.”
