Pilots Men’s Soccer Played in NCCAA National Championship

Nov 27, 2019 | Institution / General, News

The Pilots Men’s Soccer Team recently traveled to Florida to play the NCCAA National Championship. Sadly, on Saturday (Nov 23rd), they lost the Final with a score of 1-0 in overtime. The Athletics department reported that the game was back and forth with both goaltenders letting in no goals during the first 90 minutes. It was only in overtime when the Pensacola captain got a shot on net and finished to win the National Championship.

Even though the season didn’t end with a national title for the Pilots, Providence is proud of our soccer team and how they’ve valiantly played throughout the year.

“Losing the national final in overtime to a very good team in Pensacola was devastating to us and the seniors who gave their heart and souls to achieving a national championship. I’m gutted, and the players are gutted, but overall it was a fantastic year where we accomplished a lot with a team that was incredibly close and enjoyed playing together.” – Joey Passi, Head Coach Men’s Soccer
