New Providence student-athlete wins Auto Value Scholarship

Aug 9, 2019 | Institution / General, News

Providence is looking forward to welcoming new student Alexandra Dumont to campus this fall. Alexandra is an out-going and hard-working student interested in management and marketing. She will begin her Bachelor of Business Administration this fall and is anticipating a fruitful and valuable four years at Providence.

Alexandra recently won an Auto Value Scholarship, one of only three Canadians to win in 2019. The application process was rigorous and applicants were required to write essays, complete short answer questions, and submit letters of recommendation. The hurdle was clearly worth it for Alexandra who won a $1000 scholarship. Not only that, Alexandra comments that “the process of this scholarship was self-reflective and helped me focus on my future goals.”

Alexandra is already familiar with the Providence community having attended sports camps for the past four years. An avid athlete with skilled footwork, she has been recruited to play for the Providence Pilots women’s soccer team starting this fall and is eager to “grow as a soccer player.”

“We are extremely excited to have Alex join our team,” says Tory Walker, Head Coach for Women’s Soccer. “She has a great history with Providence and knows our team culture and community here at Providence. She will be a great addition to this community!”

Asked why she chose Providence, Alexandra pointed to the small class sizes and faith-focused education that Providence offers while still providing a four-year BBA degree. “I think I will thrive in this setting.”
