Music Alumnus wins Western Canadian Music Award

Feb 5, 2018 | Alumni Stories, News

Former Providence student Matt Schellenberg was named Visual Media Composer of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, held this month in Edmonton, AB.

Schellenberg, who is also a member of the indie pop band Royal Canoe, won for his work on the Lovesick soundtrack—a project that was recognized with a Canadian Screen Awards nomination earlier this year. He was also among the finalists in the Songwriter of the Year category, co-nominated with Alexa Dirks (Begonia) for “Juniper.”

The 2017 Western Canadian Music Awards was held September 13-17 as part of the BreakOut West Festival.
