Providence is excited to announce an agreement with Valley Fiber Ltd to install fiber optic Internet connectivity to the Providence campus in summer 2019.

“We have long recognized the need for higher Internet speed and bandwidth to service our Providence community,” says Martin Ward, Director of IT Services. “We were invited to visit the facilities at Valley Fiber in Winkler and were very excited when we saw their data centre and fiber projects in progress. What differentiates Valley Fiber is the flexibility of their solution for us and the vision and technical innovation in their projects.

“We want the best Internet connectivity for our students, and we are confident that Valley Fiber will provide a solution for us that is on the leading edge of Internet technology. This will enable us to provide outstanding connectivity for our students and allow us to be innovative in our future online offerings.”

Conley Kehler, Senior Vice President of Valley Fiber, adds: “Valley Fiber is very pleased to announce our partnership with Providence. Providence continues to strive to be a leader in Christian education and we are excited to participate in the mission of Providence to teach people to grow in knowledge and character for leadership and service. The infrastructure of fiber optics will begin to open numerous doors for Providence as they move forward in their goal to be one of Canada’s foremost Christian universities. The dedicated fiber build of Valley Fiber will serve the school for many years as it continues to attract students to the beautiful campus in Otterburne. We look forward to working with the team at Providence and would like to take this opportunity to welcome them to the Valley Fiber partnership family.”

Trenching for the fiber optic cable is expected to begin this spring, as soon as the frost is out of the ground.
