OTTERBURNE, MB – The whole Providence community celebrated the third annual ‘Day4Prov’ on Thursday, March 18th, displaying their newest and oldest Prov shirts, hats, jerseys and more as they posted on social media about the difference Providence has made in their lives. This year, a virtual photo booth by 6 Degrees helped bring everyone together digitally from their homes, dorm rooms and offices. Congratulations to those that posted and were picked as winners in the following categories!
- Student Winner – Heinrich Van der Merwe
- Alumni Winner – Alissa Moffit
- Employee Winner – Marlin Reimer
On Day4Prov, we celebrate by wearing, giving and sharing. Throughout the day, donations of any size were counted towards special challenge gifts that got unlocked and “dropped” in the Day4Prov donation bucket as target numbers were reached. This year, the generous community of Providence came together and a total of 68 gifts were given to raise more than $7,000!
A new highlight for Providence employees was the unlocking of a very special challenge. When more than 30 employees gave a financial gift, Provost Cameron MacKenzie willingly received a pie in the face to celebrate. Staff and faculty tuned in to witness the event via video call, and McKenzie was awarded a fresh lemon meringue pie to eat afterwards. This, however, sparked a new round of pledged donations for a second pie in his face. An extra $350 was raised, and the Provost was pied not once, but twice, making the “Pie the Provost” event doubly successful.
A big thank-you to everyone who participated and made this year’s Day4Prov one to remember!
