All Classes Online from January 10 to 21 due to Omicron Variant

Jan 3, 2022 | Institution / General

OTTERBURNE, MB – As we look to start our winter semester, beginning on January 10th, 2022, Providence is introducing increased measures to maintain the health and safety of the Prov community in the face of the COVID-19 Omicron variant as follows:

  1. All classes will take place online for the first two weeks of the winter semester from January 10 to 21, 2022. Students will return to in-person instruction beginning on January 24th. Residence students are still welcome to return to campus as of January 9th and all students may access the campus throughout the online instruction period as necessary. Providence’s vaccination policy remains in place for those accessing the campus for the winter semester.
  2. Providence requires the use of three-ply surgical masks, N95 masks, or an equivalent for all who attend the Otterburne campus. Cloth masks will not be an acceptable alternative. KN95 masks are currently available from the Province of Manitoba free of charge. For more info about this program, visit this link.
  3. Providence encourages all members of the community to receive their COVID-19 booster shot if and when they become eligible to do so. Providence will be hosting a clinic in the ELI Classrooms in the Reimer Student Life Center on Wednesday, January 12th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
  4. In addition, Providence employees are asked to hold all meetings, no matter the number of attendees or the ability to physically distance in a meeting space, online until further notice.

We are trusting that all these tactics will help reduce the number of contacts and potential exposure to the Omicron variant across the institution. For more details about our COVID-19 policies, click here.
