Jun 2, 2025 | Centennial News, Events, Institution / General

OTTERBURNE, MB  — The Southeast Event Centre is set to open its doors with a powerful and unforgettable evening of music as Providence University College & Theological Seminary presents a Centennial Concert, headlined by two-time Grammy Award-winning Christian artist Zach Williams, with special guest Juno Award-winning singer-song writer Jordan St. Cyr.

Scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, this inaugural event will mark the first major concert at Steinbach’s brand-new, state-of-the-art Southeast Event Centre and will be Zach Williams’ only Canadian tour date this year. Tickets for this milestone concert are now on sale.

Zach Williams, known for his chart-topping hits such as “Chain Breaker,” “Fear Is a Liar,” and “There Was Jesus” (a duet with Dolly Parton), brings his powerful voice and compelling message of hope and redemption to Canadian fans for a rare appearance north of the border. With a career marked by authenticity and soul-stirring performances, Williams has become one of contemporary Christian music’s most inspiring voices.

Joining him is Jordan St. Cyr, a Niverville, Manitoba born artist who has become a rising star in the Christian music scene, earning a Juno Award for his self-titled album and widespread acclaim for hits like “Fires” and “Weary Traveler.” His heartfelt lyrics and passionate stage presence have connected deeply with audiences across North America, and this performance promises to be an emotional highlight of the evening.

The Centennial Concert is part of Providence University College & Theological Seminary’s 100th anniversary celebrations, commemorating a century of faith-based education, community service, and leadership development. Hosting the concert at the Southeast Event Centre—a cutting-edge facility designed to serve as the hub for arts, culture, and community events in Steinbach—underscores the region’s commitment to growth and excellence.

“This concert marks not only the beginning of an exciting new chapter for live events in our region, but also a celebration of Providence’s 100 years of transformative education and Christian service,” said Dr. Kent Anderson, President of Providence University College & Theological Seminary. “To welcome artists of the caliber of Zach Williams and Jordan St. Cyr for this historic occasion is a true blessing and a perfect way to honor our legacy.”

Michelle Sawatzky-Koop, Director of Communications, Marketing and Sales at the Southeast Event Centre, added, “We are thrilled to open the Southeast Event Centre with such an inspiring and high-caliber performance. This concert sets the tone for what this space will represent for Steinbach and the Southeast—a place where our community comes together to be moved, entertained, and uplifted.”
