It’s time to BRING OUR PILOTS HOME!

CCAA-Championships Women's Volleyball

For the past five years, our teams have proudly competed at the Niverville Recreation Centre. While this venue has served us well, the time has come to bring Providence Athletics back to Otterburne. Campus life has missed the buzz of game days. With your support, we can bring our Pilots home—creating a facility where they can train, compete, and represent Providence every day in a space that reflects their dedication to excellence.

In anticipation of this project, the Athletics department has embarked on a Pilots rebrand creating a new “otter” logo that’ll be displayed on the gymnasium floor and walls.

Pilots Otter - New Logo for Athletics

PROJECT DETAILS

Gymnasium Floor

Our athletes currently practice on a concrete floor with a thin, worn layer of rubber cushioning. The renovated floor will include an OSB subfloor with shock-absorbing cylinders beneath high-quality athletic flooring. This system will significantly reduce the risk of chronic and acute injuries while providing a durable, high-performance playing surface.

Bleachers

The new gym configuration will create more room for spectators. A new bleacher bank will span the north wall of the gymnasium, increasing seating capacity from 200 to 430. With electronic controls for easy game-day setup, the system will feature five seating sections, ample stair access, and 10-inch contoured seat modules to ensure fans enjoy a comfortable viewing experience.

Scoreboard

Upgrades to the scoreboard will enhance the game-day experience for athletes and fans alike. New shot clocks integrated into the backboards will improve visibility and bring the gym up to modern competition standards.

Basketball Hoop Technology

Our current ceiling-mounted cable system stores folded basketball hoops against the ceiling. This design creates a higher risk of failure or injury and occupies valuable playable space for volleyball. The new system will improve both safety and functionality by allowing the hoops to swing to the outer edge of the gymnasium when not in use.

HVAC System

The current ventilation system is outdated and unreliable. It also creates an obstacle in the ceiling that interferes with volleyball play. The renovation will install a modern, energy-efficient HVAC system that provides proper climate control year-round. This upgrade will keep athletes and fans comfortable while helping protect the new gym floor for its full lifespan.

Design, Paint and Branding

A refreshed design will showcase the Pilots’ new logo with bold visuals and strong branding throughout the gymnasium. Updated finishes, fixtures, and graphics will create a welcoming atmosphere and an exciting first impression as fans arrive to cheer on the Pilots at home.
