I came to Providence in 1990 to teach New Testament and Greek. In 2002 I became dean of the Seminary. In 2007 I became Executive Vice President and Provost. After a year as interim president, the Board appointed me president in 2013. As president, I enjoy meeting new people, saying thank you to donors, and getting chances to share the great things God is doing at and through Providence. In my leisure, I enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren, and hiking with Barb, my wonderful wife.
I am an active father and grandfather. I enjoy family time. Barb and I also enjoy traveling on our summer holidays, particularly to US and Canadian National Parks. I am involved at Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Steinbach where I served on the Ministry Council for 20 years. I enjoy most sports and try to stay in shape by jogging and walking. As a fiftieth birthday present to myself, in 2004 I ran in the Manitoba Marathon on Father's Day and the Twin City Marathon (Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota) in the Fall. I ran the Twin City Marathon again in 2005 and 2006. I have been backpacking at Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior ten times.
