Campus Initiatives

Providence is committed to delivering a transformative education and to providing an ideal campus environment for that transformation to occur. From our 100-acre rural setting to our beautiful facilities, Providence is dedicated to campus initiatives that provide direct benefits to our students, our community and the world!

Leading Green Campus

Motivated by an obligation to care for the world God created, Providence is a leading green campus in Canada with a goal of being carbon neutral. Buller School of Business students sparked many of our green initiatives, including our distributed biomass-heating system, which started out as a student project. The heating system has reduced Providence’s greenhouse gas heating emissions by more than two-thirds and taken Providence about 75 percent off-grid. Installing a geothermal heating and cooling system in the Reimer Student Life Centre reduced our campus carbon footprint by 20 percent. All of our facilities have high-efficiency boilers, and we are always looking for ways to further minimize our carbon footprint.

Each year, our business students invite students, staff, faculty and the community to bring old and unused electronics to campus to ensure they are properly and safely recycled. Providence’s community involvement includes being part of 50 by 30, a group that is committed to increasing Manitoba’s renewable energy use to 50 percent by 2030.

Vibrant Student Life Centre

The 23,000-square-foot Reimer Student Life Centre is crucial to campus life, featuring the dining hall, meeting rooms and a student lounge.
