Winkler midfielder and Providence summer camper joins Pilots men’s soccer team

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

Santi Hildebrand is no stranger to Providence. The defensive midfielder is a previous Pilots summer camper and has played his high school and club soccer in nearby Winkler.

“He is a product of our camps, so we know him well,” says Pilots men’s soccer coach Joey Passi. He has amazing character, works his butt off and has the talent to become a solid player in this league. I know he’ll fit in seamlessly with our team and bring a lot of joy with his charisma.”

Hildebrand signed his letter of intent at the Otterburne campus last week and will represent the Pilots varsity team next season. An honour roll student at Northlands Parkway Collegiate, he has won both the MVP of his Nighthawks team and his school’s Citizenship Award. Away from the pitch he enjoys fishing and motorcycling.

“I’m excited to commit to this team,” says Hildebrand, who is described as a good passer and hard tackler. “I’m looking forward to working with Joey and I anticipate a great year being a part of this growing and already successful program.”

Hildebrand plans to study Business Administration at Providence.
