Providence Pilots men’s soccer head Coach Joey Passi announced the signing of standout forward Austin Blackwell as his first signing for the 2019 soccer season.
“Austin is going to be one of those guys who fits in immediately with our team,” Passi said. “He knew from the beginning exactly what he was looking for in terms of soccer, academics and culture, and he knew that we fit the bill for that. I’ve only heard awesome things about him and as such we’re excited to have him join our program. He bring speed, tenacity, and a nose for scoring. He also comes from a club I respect very much in Coastal, which tells me a lot about the kind of training he was receiving. We’re excited to have him join us next year!”
Austin, a forward from Langley British Columbia is the captain of his Langley Christian High School soccer team and currently plays at the High Performance League for Coastal Football Club. Along with being a leader, Austin scored 37 goals in a single season. Austin on signing with the Pilots said, “I’m super stoked to continue my soccer career at a highly competitive level and to resume a Christian education like I am accustomed to. I hope to win every title imaginable with this solid group of guys and amazing coaching staff.
