Star signing Tate Starkell breaks the silence as Pilots enter the summer months.
Tate Starkell, a AAAA graduating all-star, led her team to a conference championship against the Glenlawn Lions. Tate will join another successful program who are looking to build on the strongest finish in program history. The Pilots return 6 of their 9 from last season, including all-conference players, Hannah Van-Shie and Katelin Thiessen. Together with the help of some strong young recruits like Tate, the Pilots hope to take another step forward in 2019. Starkell’s 19 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals per game, should play a big factor in their success.
“I always knew I’d somehow make it here today, committing to play basketball at the next level. I’m very excited that I’ve made the decision to play at Providence. Many people underestimated me when I was growing up, and I’ve always wanted to prove them wrong. I look forward to playing on this great team next season.” (Tate Starkell)
“I have been in talks with Tate and her family for months and it feels great to finally put ink to paper! I believe Tate has the physical ability and drive to be an impact player in the NIAC and help us achieve our highest goal of an NCCAA regional championship. Tate is a big presence on both ends of the court, from her rebounding and blocking ability to her inside touch and perimeter shooting range. All that to say, Tate is a quality person and that is what we look for first. We are happy to welcome Tate into the Pilots family as we set our sights and hopes on landing in Joplin, MO at the national tournament.” (Joel Coursey)
“I am beyond excited for Tate to continue her education and athletics at Providence University College. She is a strong two way player that has amazing shooting touch and court vision. Tate is competitive by nature and will do anything she can to help the Pilots win.” (High School coach & Providence alumni, Eric Sung)
Welcome to the Pilot Family Tate!
