Providence Pilots Women’s Soccer Team Sign Colombian International Sara Cadena
Otterburne – Pilots women’s soccer head coach Tory Walker has announced the addition of forward Sara Cadena to the 2021 roster.
“Sara is a player we are excited to bring into our soccer program this fall,” said Walker, “She has a lot of great experience playing high level club soccer in Colombia as well as college soccer in the USA. From day one she will have no problem with the speed and physicality of our level of play. She will bring the creativity of the South American game to the pitch which often produces a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Her commitment to personal growth, her team first mentality and her desire for a home away from home will make her a great fit and addition to the team. I am looking forward to what this team will accomplish this next fall.”
The 5’1” forward arrives in Otterburne from Barranquilla, Colombia and boasts an impressive soccer resume full of high level experience. In Colombia Cadena played for Fair Play Club as well as her high school, Colegio Americano de Barranquilla, where they won the championships a few years in a row. Most recently her soccer experience has been playing college soccer in the USA. She is known for her speed, creativity, calmness under pressure and for being a strong competitor with or without the ball.
Off the pitch, Cadena has a passion for community service. She served in many local towns and neighbourhoods in her area helping the needy, cleaning up community spaces and helping kids with after school programs. She also enjoys learning, reading, watching Netflix and spending time with friends.
Cadena commented on her commitment to Providence, “I’m very excited to start this new chapter with Providence. I can’t wait to get to know the team and introduce myself as a player and as a friend. I’m very excited about joining a team where I can feel at home and where the teammates feel like family!”
Cadena comes to Providence to study in the Psychology program.
Welcome to the Pilot family Sara!
