Pilots Women's Soccer Sign Top Local Striker Abigail Romero-Rock
Head Coach of Women's Soccer, Tory Walker, has announced the signing of striker Abigail Romero-Rock from La Broquerie, Manitoba.
The soon-to-be graduate of Ste. Anne Collegiate plays for both her high school team as well as club soccer for Hanover Fusion. Her achievements include two time MVP for her club team, gold and silver medals as well as two time golden boot top goal scorer.
As for academics, Abigail comes to Providence to study in the Health Sciences and Business programs.
Abigail commented on her recent commitment by saying, "When I used to think about going to university or college my first concern was always "how's their soccer team" and then I started looking into Providence. The more I looked, the more I realized there was so much more than just awesome soccer. There's real people who have made a real community. I realized that's exactly where I want to be while doing what I love!! I'm so excited to become a part of the soccer team next year!"
The 5'6" striker is known for her speed with the ball, play making ability as well as her knack for scoring goals.
Head Coach Tory Walker shared his excitement of his newest signing by saying, "I am extremely excited to welcome Abigail to the team. During this pandemic, us as coaches have been able to spend more time in the recruiting process and have gotten to know the players better. After getting to know Abigail we are very confident that she is not only going to be a great player for us, she will also bring a lot of fun and flair to this team."
Welcome to the Pilot family Abigail!
