Pilots Women's Soccer Add Taya Knight to the 2021 Recruiting Class
The Pilots head women's soccer coach, Tory Walker, has announced the addition of Langley United, Taya Knight, to the Pilots roster for the 2021 season.
Knight, a 5'5" centre defender from Langley, British Columbia becomes the 4th member of the Pilots 2021 recruiting class and the first of the 2021 year.
"I am really excited to have Taya join our team," said Walker. "Taya is going to be a great addition along with her teammate Jordyn who signed a month earlier. Taya is a very good athlete with a high competitive nature and will fit well within our team and culture. Taya will make a big impact for us and help bolster our back line with aggression and toughness."
Taya comes to Providence with a long list of athletic and academic achievements such as being awarded team MVP in 2015/2016 and 2017/2018 as well as earning all-star status this past season. She was also given the Langley United David Rayner Memorial Trophy which is awarded to a stand out player that is an upbeat and strong leader for the team. Academically she was awarded the Principal's Award in 2019 for her high school, Langley Fundamental Middle Secondary School.
In addition to playing soccer Taya enjoys giving back to the game by volunteering through Langley United Soccer by coaching young kids in summer soccer camps.
Taya comes to Providence to study in the Buller School of Business as well as play for the Pilots.
"I am so excited to join in the Providence community," said Taya, "Not only am I excited to be joining the soccer team but also excited to study at Providence, and to do my part within the community."
