The Providence Pilots will start the 2020 outdoor soccer season this weekend on Saturday, September 19th against school rival, Canadian Mennonite University, at the Otterburne campus.
Both men’s and women’s teams are ready to officially kick off their seasons. "It's been a crazy summer for obvious reasons, and the fact that we're going to actually have a season after all is a huge blessing,” said head coach of men’s soccer Joey Passi. “We've been training for some weeks now and we're chomping at the bit to get going with some real action. Couldn't be more excited to start the season up again. I'm expecting a hyper competitive season with lots of quality games."
Tory Walker, head coach of women’s soccer echoes, “It’s been a long wait. We have been training together as a team since August 27th and I know the team is eager and ready to get on the field Saturday for some meaningful games.”
The Pilots season has been pushed back by the MCAC due to safety concerns regarding the COVID pandemic, but the wait for meaningful games is over.
Lindsey Dueck, captain of the women’s soccer team, emphasizes, “This year is really different, but I think it’s going to be fun. We have a great team of girls who have been working hard the last few weeks. I’m really excited to see where the season takes us.”
Kick off starts at:
Women's Soccer: 1:00 PM
Men's Soccer: 3:15 PM
Date: Saturday, September 19th
Opponent: Canadian Mennonite University Blazers
