MCAC Basketball Championships 2018-2019

Women’s Basketball – The #2 seed Providence Pilots (12-2) meet up with the #3 seed Red River Rebels (5-9) this Friday, February 8 2019 in the MCAC Semi-Final match at the Loewen Athletic Centre in Winnipeg.

The Pilots have won both matchups against the Rebels this season beating them 60-45 and 63-29.
Pilots head coach Joel Coursey had this to say about the upcoming MCAC Championship weekend, “At this point in the year, you rely on your seniors and hope their experience pays off. Everyone steps their game up when playoffs come around. We beat Red River twice in November, but that was a long time ago. I hope my players step up their game and we find success on Friday night. If we are good enough tomorrow to get past Red River, I will have a late night preparing for a rested CMU. This is what makes the postseason exciting.”

Men’s Basketball – The playoffs for the Pilots also just one day away for the MCAC Semi-Finals. Pilots basketball who are ranked #3 (5-11) will face #2 seed CMU Blazers in the Semi-Final on Friday night.

The Pilots have been working hard as they have had a week off to fine tune their offense and defensive schemes. Head coach Pierre Dubreuil commented saying “All the guys have worked hard these past two weeks to prepare the upcoming game(s). Two weeks ago in our matchup against CMU, we let them take the two wins. We are definitely ready not to let this happen again. Our offence and defence are ready for the challenge, and we are playing for nothing else than going to the MCAC final and getting revenge against Red River (1-1 in the season series)”.

Come out and support your Pilots and fuel the flight. Action tips off at 8:00 PM at the Loewen Athletic Centre in Winnipeg.
