Forward Laney Harder Signs with the Pilots Women's Basketball Team
Laney Harder becomes the third current Winkler Zodiac to commit the women's basketball team. She joins her younger sister Carly Harder, who also signed earlier this fall, and former teammate Abby Matuszewski. She is also the third Harder sister to join the Pilots program.
Harder comes to the Pilots with plenty of high level experience having played AAAA high school basketball where she was named to the graduation all-star team. She also has two years of experience playing university basketball at the U-Sport level.
She is known by her coaches and teammates as being a team player who works hard to help the team reach their full potential. She has a strong ability to read the court to make plays and her shooting range extends outside the three point line making her a scoring threat anywhere on the court.
“I am looking forward to being apart of this positive and welcoming environment," said Harder, "I am excited to work hard and contribute to the success of the team and I couldn’t be more excited to play alongside my sister!”
Head coach Joel Coursey shared his excitement by saying, “Laney has height, athleticism and a high basketball IQ. At 6’0” tall, she can score inside and stretch the floor with her consistency beyond the arc. She was noticed in high school for having an elite skill level along with a high ceiling of potential. Now after two seasons at Brandon University, Laney joins us with a wealth of knowledge and experience from her time playing in the Canada West Conference. I am really excited to see where Laney fits on our team. She is undoubtedly an excellent basketball player and a welcomed addition to our roster. Off the court, Laney brings a heart for service and a dedication to helping anyway she can. I believe Laney will help us achieve our goals and contribute towards the positive community we have in our program and on our campus. I am thrilled to have Laney fly with us next season!”
Along with playing basketball, Harder comes to Providence to study social work.
Welcome to the Pilot family Laney!
