September 13

September 11th
Providence Women’s Soccer vs Canadian Mennonite University
Result: W 5-0
MCAC Record: 1-0-0

There couldn’t be a better stage set for the home and MCAC season openers. The match between the Pilots and their long-time rival Blazers, fell on welcome week at Providence and aligned with the annual alumni BBQ. None of our other teams were in action, meaning the stands were packed to “Public Health Regulations” capacity, with a raucous crowd. The Pilots came to play and showed an inspired performance for all 90 minutes, resulting in a season high, 5 goals. Head coach Tory Walker expressed “a huge shout out to the fans for showing up and giving us extra energy, the team thrived off the excitement and the result showed, we will be a force playing at home in front of fans like that.”

“Our team came out strong from the first minute. This was the most we have felt connected since becoming a team. We were able to find each other and make some amazing passing combinations which in turn created a lot of attacking opportunities for us! It was super special to have all our fans come out for the home opener and cheer us on so well! They did amazing and we owe a lot to them, for keeping us going all 90 minutes. I am excited to start the season with a win, and ready to take this momentum into the rest of the year!” Julia Herperger

September 11th
Providence Men’s Soccer vs Canadian Mennonite University
Result: W 4-0
MCAC Record: 1-0-0

In the first MCAC game of the year, Providence had a strong performance resulting in possessing the majority of the games high-quality chances. Starting from the back line, all the way to the top, the Pilots controlled play and demonstrated their strengths. "Clearly a great way for us to start the season. We have mostly 1st years on the team, and furthermore, we've added guys at the last minute. A quality game like this, gives me a chance to see what we have in this group. They were organized, composed, and efficient moving up the field. We have lots to work on, but our ceiling looks high. We will continue to work hard to play the style we want. I'm proud of how the guys showed in their first game." Coach Joey Passi

"I think we played fast, strong, and at a high intensity. We came out ready to play and worked well together. We communicated well and moved on the field as a unit, which is very important. We created lots of chances and worked together as a back line to limit their chances on goal. Overall, I think we played a great game." Rylee Chalmers
