It was a great bounce back weekend for the Pilots men’s volleyball program, after a tough home loss a week prior to USB. The Pilots men’s team came out flying against the tough ACC Cougars from Brandon, MB. It was the last home weekend of the first semester and Pilots Nation was out in full force to cheer on the team. In Friday night’s tilt, the Pilots found their groove in the passing game enabling a smooth-running offensive amidst some untimely service errors and took the match 3-0.

On short rest, the Pilots continued where they left off the night before. It was another side-out efficient game for the Pilots, seeing the men in white & blue, siding out at a high rate. The story of the weekend was the blocking game, in their second consecutive 3-0 sweep. The Pilots tallied a massive 17 point-ending blocks over the 6 sets of the weekend, led by 4th year Austin Anderson’s 13 kills and the team’s 9 point ending single match blocks.

Coach Quiring shared his thoughts on the weekend; “the group knew that there were some internal tangibles that we needed to focus on, and I thought the group as a whole did well in accomplishing our goals. I am proud of the way the team responded and how they brought some much-needed net presence with the extremely solid blocking, over the course of both matches. As we head into three matches on the road to finish the first semester, our focus now shifts to a new gameplan and a tough opponent in USB Les Rouges for a back-to-back matchup this next weekend.”
