CCAA Transfer Returns Home and Signs with Providence Men's Volleyball
CCAA transfer from Medicine Hat College, Nick Friesen, has decided to return home to Mitchell, Manitoba and play for the Pilots Men's Volleyball team.
The 6'5" middle developed playing volleyball for Steinbach Regional Secondary School, Junior Pilots and Provincial Team Manitoba.
"I am excited for next year's season, I have always had a deep love for the sport," says Nick. "I've been playing volleyball non stop since I was in the seventh grade and it grew to be more than a pastime for me but a part of who I am. These past two years I have taken a break from competitive volleyball in order to pursue my academics to a greater degree, however I have realized lately that my passion for the sport has not yet faded. I will continue to work hard at my studies while pursuing the sport I love and look forward to making many memories and friendships that will last for the rest of my life. I believe our team will be able to do great things next year and I can't wait to be a part of it."
Nick is a middle blocker with a strong hitting arm and a powerful serve. He has lots of experience playing the game at a high level including winning a national bronze medal as well as playing for Team Manitoba in the 2018 Summer Games.
Nick plans to study at Providence in the Buller School of Business while playing volleyball for the Pilots.
Head coach Cody Quiring commented on his first signing of 2021 by saying, “We are extremely thrilled to have a student-athlete with the experience and caliber of Nick join our program. Nick returns to his rural Manitoba roots and joins the program after spending time in the ACAC and with the Manitoba Canada Games team. Nick’s compete level, size and character will be an asset to our program and we’re extremely excited to see the impact he’ll make on the program and league.”
Welcome to the Pilot family Nick!
