Award-winning “high-level athlete” to join Pilots women’s basketball team

Monday, February 5, 2018

The 2017-18 Providence Pilots basketball season doesn’t officially begin until November, but women’s team coach Joel Coursey is already thinking about the 2018-19 campaign.

Earlier this month Coursey welcomed Westgate Mennonite Collegiate star Natalya Reimer to the Otterburne campus, where the 5’10” star signed her letter of intent. The two-time AAA provincial all star will join the Pilots next summer, but she’s already quite familiar with Providence, having participated in several of the institution’s sports camps.

“Natalya is a long-time sports camper, and I’m excited to add her to an already strong line-up,” remarked Coursey. “She is a high-level athlete with the ability to become an impact college athlete. She has a great personality and I believe she’ll fit in well within our team and school.”

Reimer, who won the 2016 AAA Provincial Championship with Westgate, is also on her school’s cross-country team and enjoys playing ultimate frisbee. She’s already looking forward to representing the Pilots.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity to play basketball,” she said. “It’s so exciting to already be part of the team, and I can’t wait to continue playing the sport I love at Providence next year.”
