Despite losing their National Christian College Athletic Association final the Providence Pilots women’s volleyball team is once again headed to the NCCAA National Championship.

Against Faith Baptist Bible College in last weekend’s regional semi-final in Watertown WI, the Pilots prevailed in straight sets, only to lose in two frames in the final against long-time rivals Maranatha Baptist University.

Danella Alvaro executed 19 kills and 15 digs during the tournament while Sara Barker added 18 kills, 4 blocks and 4 digs.

Head coach Kyle Guenther is optimistic ahead of the National Championship in Greenville SC, which begins November 16.

“After the competition was over we received a call letting us know we had been chosen as one of the wildcard teams at Nationals,” he explained. “This is a huge honour. We have a great team that I really believe in and I’m happy we get to show our skill on the national stage.”
