Pilots recruit standout BC defender for women’s soccer team

Tuesday, February 6, 2018

Claire Yager was an All Star with the Langley United club team in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2013 she won a provincial championship with Langley Christian High School and in 2016 she was named MVP of the Las Vegas Tournament. In 2018 she’ll be a Providence Pilot.

“I am beyond excited that Claire decided to commit to Providence,” remarked Pilots women’s soccer team head coach Tory Walker after Yager signed her letter of intent this week. “She is an elite player who will come into our team and be a difference-maker right away. She brings a lot of skill, experience and leadership, not to mention a great character that will be an amazing addition to our group.”

Yager, who also plays for the Delta Coastal Selects, is an imperious central defender with a heavy shot. Away from the pitch she enjoys hiking and working at a summer camp on Vancouver Island. She also claims to be a grilled cheese sandwich expert.

“I am so excited to be joining the Pilots family and couldn’t be happier to be moving to a place with more sunshine than rain,” she said. “Now to just find a real winter jacket.”
