Pilots Flight Report: Women's Soccer - MCAC Championships

Providence Pilots Women's soccer team came into the MCAC Playoffs this weekend seeded #3. Coach Tory Walker liked the match up against Red River as the team recently beat them in regular season play 1-0. The Pilots were eager to defend home turf this weekend and showed great tactical adjustments against Red River and came out with a solid 3-0 team win.

The next day the Pilots faced undefeated University of Saint Boniface. The game was a battle of the defenders as both back lines fought hard. Unfortunately with a unlucky corner kick goal and an unfortunate PK the Pilots fell 2-0 in the championship game.

FROM THE COACH: This weekend was a huge weekend for us. Saturday and Sunday I challanged the team to raise their level, to believe in this team and to push themselves to the next level, and thats what they did. Even though we lost the game vs USB I felt we exicuted our game plan and tactically matched up well. The game came down to luck, we got unlucky with a scrappy corner kick goal, and a questionable PK call against us. This team has only been getting better and I believe big things are in store for us. The best thing about this weekend is the growth i've seen in our team unity! Unlike other MCAC teams, our season isn't even close to being over! We will continue to grow and get ready for regionals in two weeks! - Tory Walker

PLAYER’S VIEW: This weekend was the best our team has ever played, from the start of the season to now, you can tell our team has improved individually and as a team. We have become closer as a family and we have displayed our performance and desire through injury, weather and mentality. Our defence has improved immensely, and learning how to build up the play from our defending third has improved. Although we came out from the weekend with one loss and one win, I know not one girl is upset about our performance in playoff and every single one of us is super excited to finish off our season in the US league - Vanessa Edis
