Pilots Flight Report: Women's Basketball – November 2 & 3

Pilots Basketball ended the Preseason schedule on the road this weekend and faced tough NAIA competition. We headed down to Viking country in Valley City, ND for another pair of NAIA preseason games. Their roster is a intimidating as they come, and we weren’t sure how we were going to compete with their size. Understanding that losses were likely inevitable, the goal was to compete as long as possible and see what kind of growth our team would have.

FROM THE COACH:
Our preseason has challenged us in many ways and Valley City presented a whole new challenge. They’re big and tough to defend inside, and if you find a way to slow down their paint game, they shoot the ball well from outside. I was proud of our first game and I thought we did a good job at times, but ultimately they were bigger and stronger then us. Our motto is “always make today better then yesterday”, and we did just that on day two. We competed harder and executed the proper adjustments. I am very proud of the effort my team put forward this weekend and the improvement we have seen over our preseason. Our sights shift to the beginning of the regular season and the long road ahead to March basketball. -  Joel Coursey

PLAYER’S VIEW:
Valley City was our their tough opponent in the last three weekends. They proved to be quite the skilled team in a different way then the past teams we’ve played. This meant for some adjustments in our play, which I thought we did a good job with. Ultimately, they were a very strong team and I am proud of what our girls did this weekend. We had a lot of good moments that make me very excited for our future in this season. - Alena Collier
