Pilots Flight Report: Women’s Basketball

These two teams had not met in Otterburne since the 2007-08 season.
After a long bye week, we entered the weekend hungry to play. We had worked hard for two weeks in preparation for a final 4 game push to end the semester. We produced in a record setting way on both ends of the court this past weekend in our powerful victories over the Conquerors of AFLBS. Wrapping up the semester will be a pair of road games against Turtle Mountain.

FROM THE COACH: “We had followed some of the stat lines of AFLBS leading to our weekend of games, and we knew they had a couple of players who had been dominant for them. We knew that in order for us to find success, we would need to key in on those two to slow down their offence. We were happy to see this our defensive strategy work, which led to our high offensive output. With one weekend of games remaining before the Christmas holidays, we turn our attention to Turtle Mountain Community College in hopes of ending the semester strong. The road can be challenging but we are hopeful that our schedule thus far has prepared us for what lies ahead in a tough opponent from Turtle Mountain.”

PLAYER’S VIEW: “After a long week of hard work in practice, we came in this weekend with a mindset of being dominant and in control of the game. Therefore, I think we did a very good job and achieved our goal as a team. This weekend was an eye opener of how strong and capable, together as a team, we are able to accomplish anything we put our mind to. We will continue on working hard at practice this week and preparing for our last two games of the year against Turtle Mountain Community College, this upcoming weekend.” (Esther Ruchegeza, 2nd year Post)
