FROM THE COACH:
“This past weekend was absolutely incredible. Obviously falling short of our goal was tough to swallow but the way we went out was something we could all be proud of. In the semi-final, we played well which led to an upset of the #2 seed Emmaus. We were able to execute our game plan against them that we had been working on all week. In the final, the first 20 minutes of that match was the best I have seen our team play in the last couple of years. It was flawless volleyball. We held a large lead against one of the best teams in the country. The unfortunate part was that they changed their game plan towards the end of the set that we had a hard time adjusting to. Once they stole the momentum from us, we couldn’t recover. I give a lot of credit to our team that we never stopped fighting but a very experienced team on the other side of the net was too much for us in the end. They will be a tough team to beat at nationals and I am so proud of our team for making them work for the Region Championship. I’m very happy with what we showed this weekend and we will certainly try to play every match for the rest of the season at that level.”

PLAYER’S VIEW:
“After executing our game plans well in the semi-final match we were set up to play against our long time rivals Maranatha in the finals. Going in to the final match our team was ready to face the challenge that Maranatha set before us. Our team has never come out as strong as we did. We executed our game plan flawlessly to start the match. But that wasn’t enough to hang onto, unfortunately Maranatha began to take momentum and carried it the rest of the match, despite our efforts. Although we lost in a tough game, there are many positives that we are able to take away from the weekend both on and off the court. Which will hopefully propel us into a successful second half of our season.” – Ally Grafe
