From the Coach: Scott Masterson “This pre-season MCAC competition was a great way for us to continue our process of preparing for the regular season while also getting an idea of what our competition will be for the season. A number of teams seem to have improved over the off-season, meaning there should be a lot more competitive games throughout the year, which is great for the league. This weekend served as a great opportunity to get all of our players some playing time and game experience. We continued the trend of struggling with our consistency throughout most of the weekend and lost the first three matches of the tournament. Other than the CMU match, I thought we gave ourselves chances to win and just weren’t able to pull it off. It was definitely nice to get our first win of the season against ACC and then we were able to carry some of that momentum into the next match against Red River. We played our best match of the year and were able to win in straight sets, finishing the tournament in 3rd place. Overall, we definitely still have a lot to work on as a group but we also have a very motivated group of players. I believe we will continue to grow as a team and find a level of volleyball that will give us a chance to win every time we step on the floor.”
