Pilots Flight Report: Men's Futsal - January 12&13

Pilots Futsal kicked off their season this weekend as the Pilots played 2 games in 2 days. For the men's side they had split results winning the season opener vs Red River Rebels and losing the second vs CMU blazers. The Pilots were without a few on their roster to start the season and are happy with the split results.

Game #1
GAME: Providence Pilots vs Red River Rebels
SCORE: 5-4 For Providence
DATE: January 12th
LOCATION: Red River

PILOTS KEY CONTRIBUTORS:
Jay Thielmann – Scored a goal, and played great in net
Bret Sveinson – Scored, and did great as a playmaker. Collected about 8 fouls

Game #2
GAME: Providence Pilots vs CMU
SCORE: 8-2 For CMU
DATE: January 13th
LOCATION: Providence

PILOTS KEY CONTRIBUTORS:
Santi Hildebrand – Played strong as a defender and is developing well as a rookie

FROM THE COACH:
We’ll take the split in games this weekend and learn where we need to improve. It’s almost always a slow start for us in futsal since we don’t train until the week before games due to having a long outdoor season. But like always we really improve as the season goes on and we will make playoffs and be a tough team once we get there. Futsal is new to almost every player on our team and over the weekend every player save our goalie (who usually isn’t a goalie), was playing futsal for the first time for Providence. The boys did a good job getting the W against Red River and against CMU we ran into a well-oiled machine with a lot of natural futsal players. They are a good team and will be one of the favorites this year to win it all. We know where to improve as a team and once we get some sessions under our belts we’ll be ready for the other teams.
