Providence Pilots men's soccer team head south on Sunday, November 17th, all the way to sunny Florida, where the team will participate in the NCCAA Division II men's soccer national championship.
The Pilots are ranked #2 in the nation heading into the tournament this year and have their eyes set on their first national championship. Head coach Joey Passi had this to say about the upcoming tournament. "Two years ago we lost the chance to go to the national final in the semi-final game that had a PK against us with 40 seconds on the clock. Last year we lost the regional final to NCU who went on to sweep everyone at nationals. This year we’re going in with a chip on our shoulders, ready to get what we feel we could have gotten before. We’re excited, confident, and eager to get playing. We can’t wait. It’s going to be a great week."
Captain, All-American, and fourth year defender,Braeden Owen echo's Joey's excitement by saying, "We’re really confident going into nationals. This is our third round of playoff action as a team and we’re really excited to go out and make some history representing Canada in the states."
The Pilots first game is Tuesday night as the team faces #3 ranked Grace Christian University at 5:30PM EST.
