Julika Phommerath, whose hat-trick powered the Providence Pilots women’s futsal team to a 6-0 win over the Red River College Rebels on January 13, was named Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Week for Week 15.

The recognition was only the latest honour Phommerath has deservedly garnered this season, having already been selected to the MCAC Female Soccer All-Conference Team and received the prestigious National Christian College Athletic Association Game Plan 4 Life Award.

She and her teammates, however, were unable to replicate last weekend’s emphatic result and were shut out 4-0 by the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in Winnipeg on Friday.

The men’s side, at 0-1 after a narrow defeat at Red River College earlier this month, also lost to the Blazers—edged 6-5 in Winnipeg.

Next up for both teams is the 2018 home debut against Red River on Friday, which will be followed by a match against Les Rouges de l’Universite de Saint-Boniface on Saturday.
